Rabbits should have their teeth checked by the vet at least every 6 months to pick up early disease. Dental checks involve checking the molars (not just the front teeth) with a special scope. With well behaved, handled bunnies, this can usually be undertaken in the consult.
CT scans have been often performed at our centre for Rabbit DENTAL DISEASE, rabbit head tilts, middle ear disease, incisor & molar investigation, surgical planning of mandibular (jaw) resections due to abscess. Pre and post contrast CT scans on rabbit nasolacrimal ducts have been conducted to search for causes of weeping eyes. Spinal fractures can also be investigated.
