COSMO the CATTLE DOG
in
mid tick season, she came in wobbly
on her back legs with strange breathing
Cosmo Cattle Dog FeN 10yrs 22 kg
History
Presented with proprioceptive deficits to both hind limbs,
only mild righting attempt on LHS hind limb. No forelimb deficits, no
cervical discomfort on manipulation. Otherwise Cozmo had been well
right up to sudden onset of paresis/paralysis hind limbs (UMN signs). In
retrospect owner may have noted her being a little more quiet the 3 days
prior.
Aggressive bone lesion proximal 4th rib with associated soft tissue mass and obliteration of the epidural fat at T3 and T4.
These findings are interpreted as primary bone lesion (most
likely chondrosarcoma) taking origin from the right 4th rib and
extending within the vertebral canal. This findings can
explain paresis/paralysis hind limbs
Permeative lysis of the dorsal aspect of the 4th right rib. Long zone of transition and evidence of amorphous new bone formation. No evidence
of bone lysis or new bone formation in the adjacent vertebra
Associated soft tissue mass measuring at least 7 cm in diameter
extending ventrally and displacing the lung and cardiac silhouette
ventrally and to the left.
Obliteration of the epidural fat around the cord at T3 and T4
Multiple spondylosis
